Mac mini Core Solo fick fantastiskt bra resultat i Xbench när Ars Technica testade den. Nu verkar ju inte Xbench så väldigt tillförlitligt, men ändå… Jag blev riktigt sugen när jag såg resultaten. (Overall score 74,71)

Hur är det möjligt att min snart två år gamla PowerBook 15" får nästan lika bra poäng som MacBook Pro? Funkar XBench bara på ena processorkärnan eller vad?

Tack för att du postade dina resultat, jag har inte en hårddisk med 7200 varv, i alla fall inte vad jag vet. Men det är standardversionen av 2,0Ghz:aren jag kör och den har väl 5400 rpm. Finns det nåt sätt att kolla vad man har för hårddisk?

En fråga också, hur bra upplever du prestandan när du kör ett par tunga program samtidigt. Blir det mycket swappande eller funkar det bra med 2GB i ram? Jag planerar nämligen att köpa till 1 GB eftersom jag kör ps, indesign och lite andra rosettaprogram som tar en jäkla massa kräm.

Xbench är visserligen en Universal Binary, men utnyttjar inte alla funktioner på Intel-processorn så resultaten blir lite missvisande. Har ni installerat developer tools så öppna Performance tools > Quartz Debug och välj menyn Tools > Show beam sync tools och se till att Disable beam synchronisation är ikryssat. Starta sen Xbench och kör testet igen.

Mina resultat blir ungefär dubbelt så bra när jag gör så.

Xbench är, som skrivits flera gånger ett Universalprogram, men det betyder inte att programmet kan dra fördel av allt i intel-processorn. Jag skrev om det i Inlägg 93 i den här diskussionen.

Jag körde allt på standard, enda programmet igång förutom Xbench var Quicksilver.

Xbench är iaf Universal, så det rör sig inte om rosetta-segning.

Jag har satt BOLD och RÖTT på detta och tidigare inlägg för att tydliggöra grafikresultaten (och DISK-resultaten).
Det gjorde nästan ingen skillnad på OpenGL men det beror med största sannolikhet på XBench.
Jag kan tillägga att med nuvarande överklockning är jag långt ifrån att få renderingsfel.
