.Mac iDisk synchronization problems; data missing
We've been receiving sporadic reports since the beginning of the week regarding issues with iDisk synchronization after Apple performed some .Mac "system maintenance" over the weekend.
For most users experiencing this issue, large chunks of data (or all data stored) are gone, and have been replaced by empty folders. Some users have found that deleting the local iDisk returns a view of what is stored on Apple's servers, but further attempts to synchronize a local iDisk via the Preference panel renders empty folders on the local Mac.
Reader Stefan Schulze writes: "Getting error -39 and -43 (don't know what they mean). iDisk refuses to sync. This is the second time now in two weeks."
Reader Alex adds "I know .Mac underwent an upgrade during last weekend. This morning I keep getting pop-up windows saying that there is a problem synchronizing files. Error= -49"
MacFixIt reader John Wolff writes: "Adding insult to injury, the .Mac Status lights for iDisk have returned to 'green' (after a brief acknowledgment of 'orange') yet the problem continues, with no resolution or posted explanation in sight. Emails to the .Mac support team remain unanswered, and -- of course -- calls to Apple support simply reroute users to the emailing the mute .Mac support team."
