"Lastly, I don´t know how many TGS ers know this, but apple has maintained a running build of OSX (not darwin, full OSX with GUI and more) on Intel Hardware since it was released, and apple has PC´s running right now with Jaguar. This has been done in order to maintain pressure on motorola to ramp up chip speed. If apple ever did switch though, they would have intel add embedded code to the processor so that an Intel MAC would be just as uncloneable as a Motorola MAC. Most likely, they would also have intel design a proprietary socket and die for the chip even if it was in essence a P4, itanium or whatever. It won´t have any noticeable effect except faster implementation of newer architectures, and it certainly would not "open" the apple platform to cloning unless apple decides to allow that."
